Golfers can sign up now for the first golf event of the 2007 season. The Spring Scramble will be played Saturday March 31 on the 18-hole course. This is a two player team event open to any golfer with a USGA handicap. Sign up as a twosome, or as an individual.

Co-Superintendents Dave Buckley and Chris Pekarek

Village Links Assistant Golf Course Superintendents Dave Buckley and Chris Pekarek have been named Co-Superintendents, responsible for overseeing all golf course maintenance. Both men have a long history at the Links. Dave joined our ground staff in 1990, was promoted to Supervisor and was promoted again to Assistant Superintendent in 1998. Chris began his employment on the Golf Shop staff as a seasonal employee in 1969. He joined the ground staff in 1973 and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 1975. Both are long time members of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Former Superintendent Tim Kelly retired last December after 38 years at the Links.

The weekday evening 9-hole golf leagues that we started last year were so popular, that we've added more! We have added two new Assistant Golf Professionals, both of whom are familiar to Village Links golfers. Nick Massello joined the Golf Shop staff last year. Phil Yudys was on the Golf Shop staff from 1999-2005. Nick earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Illinois and a Masters degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Phil earned his Bachelors degree from Illinois State University. Head Golf Professional Noel Allen expects to add two more Assistant professionals in the next several days, to replace Assistants who left last year.

The Over 60 Group plays the 9-hole course every Wednesday morning. Open to anyone age 60 and over, they play April 11 through September 12. A drawing for weekly starting times will be held Wednesday March 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Village Links. Sign up today!
