Recycling (Under Construction)
Recycling conserves our resources.

The Village Links has a successful recycling effort that has a positive impact on the environment while lowering our operating costs.
The restaurant collects plastic and glass bottles, aluminum and tin cans and cardboard from its operation. Used cooking grease is recycled and used by a company for industrial applications.
Golfers will notice that there is a recycling container for their cans and bottles at every tee on the golf course.
Every office on the property collects scrap paper and cardboard.
The maintenance staff stores used motor oil and antifreeze that is sold to a recylcer. Scrap metal parts and wiring are sold to a metals dealer. Batteries are traded in when new batteries are purchased.
The grounds staff saves dozens of wood pallets each year that are reused by a pallet distribution company. During the recent renovation of the golf course, the grounds staff salvaged 325,000 pounds of landscape blocks that were reused to build a large tiered landscape wall. Thousands of brick pavers were also saved and reused. Several years ago, the bunkers on the 18 hole course were rebuilt. Over 2.5 million pounds of sand was given away to local residents.
The golf course used to purchase mulch for the acres of landscape beds located throughout the property. For the past several seasons all of the golf course trees that have been trimmed or cut down have been chipped. Staff also obtains free wood chips from local tree companies. All of the wood chips generated by the Glen Ellyn Forestry Department are also collected. Golf course staff composts the chips and then reuses them as mulch. The recycled wood waste saves more than $10,000.00 each year.
