What Will It Take To Qualify?: One of the topics of discussion at every USGA Qualifying is conjecture on the score it take to advance to the Championship. The results of the US Amateur Qualifying held at the Village Links in 2008 might give us a hint as to the score that will be needed. While that was a 36-hole event, there were 8 scores of par or better posted in the first round - two at 69, four at 71, and two at 72. The course was set up a bit longer for that 2008 event, but the field was arguably a bit stronger. All things considered, it makes sense that it would take a 72 or better to grab one of the six qualifying spots.
