They’re special to us, and we hope they’re special to you.

Like you, we have a few “pet projects” here at The Village Links of Glen Ellyn.

Please take a look at some of our special programs.

Legends of the Links

In 1992, the Glen Ellyn Recreation Commission created a program to honor individuals who had made unique contributions to the Village Links of Glen Ellyn. This program was titled "Legends of the Links". Ed Posh was the inaugural "legend". Ed was inducted into the "Legends of the Links" in 1992, on the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the golf course.

Since then, several others have been recognized for their role in the history of the Village Links. Each member of the "Legends of the Links" has a plaque that hangs in the Village Links clubhouse. The list of Legends includes:

  • Ed Posh - 1992
  • Lee Hesterman - 1994
  • George Winchell - 1995
  • David Gill - 1995
  • Bill Galligan - 1995
  • Bob Becker - 1995
  • Keith Nicolls - 1995
  • Ted Sokolis - 1995
  • Marge Faulkner - 1998
  • Dave Glod - 2002
  • Doug Pinns - 2002
  • Roger Warren - 2002

The Recreation Commission periodically adds new individuals to the "Legends of the Links". Letters of nomination should include the accomplishments that one feels merits consideration as a "Legend of the Links". Letters of nominations can be addressed to the Glen Ellyn Recreation Commission, 485 Winchell Way, Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60137.
